NEWSLETTER – MAY 2010:
NATIONALS: 13-15TH MAY 2010
What a great Nationals it was too!
Not only did the weather play its part, the courses were in great condition, the hotels were comfortable, the food at the Wild Coast at the evening functions was impeccable and Aaron McIlroy – well what can you say about this guy? – He was terrific.
Tournaments of this nature (244 players) do not just happen and I would like to thank the following who were outstanding in the running of the Nationals, in no particular order they are: Karl Rabie, Alan Lazarus, Billy Van Den Berg, Graham Ellis, Debbie Blatt and Kevin “Casper” Palmer. Believe me, you would be amazed at how much work goes into the organizing of this event.
Not only did we have a great time – BUT ALSO we brought back “The Ndlovu Trophy” on 1174 pts, so congratulations to all who contributed and especially to our top 6 players:
Mike Wilson 72 pts, Gerry Steytler 70 pts, Eddie Rutishauser, Alan Lazarus, Karl Rabie & Kevin Archer all on 67 pts.
Gauteng were 2nd with 1160 pts and Border were 3rd with 1152.
Fines raised R 4160.00, which will be donated to charity and I will let you know which one once a decision has been taken.
CONDOLENCES:
Our condolences go to Norma Howe on the passing of Bob who suffered over the pass few months with cancer. He will be sadly missed by all his colleagues.
MILWORTH & BEACHWOOD GAME:
The 2nd round of the main event and the 1st round of the plate will be played at Beachwood on the 08 June. Please make every effort to play on this day otherwise it will be up to you to make arrangements and play outside of the Qaccs meetings.
Members who attended the Nationals are requested to wear the 2010 black & white gear for golf and the after golf shirt which was supplied. This I believe is tradition.
NEW QACCS GEAR:
This will be looked into with “gusto” now that Nationals is over and the good news is that it will be sponsored to a certain extent from the surplus at Nationals.
Please make every effort to attend the Beachwood game, your Fines Master will be JOE BROWN – Don’t miss it (he had some lessons from Aaron!)
